Nurin murder suspect freed

Charles Ramendran; theSUN

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 10, 2007): The Indonesian woman (ABOVE) detained by Selangor police in connection with the murder of eight-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin late last month was cleared of further investigations today. It is learnt that the 23-year-old woman who spent most of her days in police remand in Universiti Malaya Medical Centre to purge a sim card she swallowed, was handed over to Kuala Lumpur police today. Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC II Ku Chin Wah said the woman was freed following investigations due to lack of substantial evidence.

However, the woman who was detained in Nilai, Negri Sembilan on Sept 29 has been handed over to the Immigration Department and sent to the Semenyih detention centre as she does not have valid travel documents. Last week, police released four men who were picked up in Shah Alam on Sept 28 to help in the probe after they were found to be not involved.

On the internet circulation of autopsy photos of Nurin taken by police investigators, police said they have initiated investigations following a police report lodged by a senior police officer. Federal CID director Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee when contacted said police will take severe action against those behind the circulation of the photos. It is learnt that investigators will be calling in two police photographers who were present during the post mortem on Nurin, for questioning.

Nurin's Family To Celebrate Aidilfitri In Perak

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The family of the murdered Nurin Jazlin Jazimin will celebrate Aidilfitri in Selama, Perak, her mother's hometown for one week. "We are leaving for Selama on Friday after visiting Kah Ngah's (Nurin Jazlin) grave," said Nurin Jazlin's father, Jazimin Abd Jalil, 33, after receiving an umrah (minor pilgrimage) package from Uptrend Network Sdn Bhd at his house in Wangsa Maju here Wednesday. Jazimin hoped by celebrating Aidilfitri in Selama, it would help the family cope with the trauma of losing their loved one. Thanking Uptrend Network for the package, Jazimin said he and his wife were planning to go for the umrah after Aidilfitri. "It is impossible for us to overcome our grief over the loss of Kak Ngah.

The contribution would ease the pain and help us rebuild our lives," he said. Jazimin said he had quit his job as taxi driver and would be venturing into business offered by Uptrend Network but the nature of the trade had yet to be determined. Nurin Jazlin went missing on Aug 20 after going to a night market near her house in Wangsa Maju. Her naked body stuffed in a sports bag was found outside a shop in Petaling Jaya on Sept 17. A post-mortem revealed that she was sexually assaulted.

Jazimin (ABOVE) yesterday lodged a police report over the circulation of post-mortem photographs of his daughter. Four men and a woman were arrested in connection with the murder but the men were later released unconditionally after the DNA test carried out on them did not match the foreign material found on Nurin's body.

Who spread pictures of Nurin on the Net?

THE first beast was the one who murdered Nurin Jazimin. The second is the one who circulated what is believed to be her post-mortem pictures via the Internet! The gruesome pictures surfaced this morning and they are enough to make one's blood boil! The pictures show various injuries the little girl suffered. I assume they are meant only for medical record. But today, they are spread over the Internet in what can only be described as a dastardly and an inhumane act of violation on a dead person. How could this happen? Who is responsible for this? Where is the right of the dead to privacy? Where is respect for the dead? Isn't there any trace of human decency at all by those who did this? What kind of action can be taken against the perpetrators? How many more of such acts of indecent exposure? Let's get to the bottom of this once and for all!

Jazimin to sue over sensational stories; By PAUL CHOO; STAR

KUALA LUMPUR: Jazimin Abdul Jalil is considering taking legal action against newspapers that published allegedly defamatory stories in relation to his daughter Nurin’s brutal murder. He said he felt disappointed that, although he gave his full cooperation to the press, several newspapers chose to highlight hurtful and dubious stories. “I will read all the stories, one by one, and will take action against those who have tarnished the good name of my family just to sell their newspapers.” Jazimin said he had been horrified to read some news reports that alleged that he had financial problems and loan shark debts and that these had led to the murder and sexual abuse of his daughter. “Those stories are lies, completely untrue. “Do you think that just because I am a taxi driver I do not have a good background?

“The reason I took up this job is because Nurin had high blood pressure and kidney problems, which constantly required me to take her for treatment and this job gives me freedom. “And don’t think that because I live in a house like this (pointing to his second floor flat unit in Wangsa Maju here), I am not capable of taking legal action against newspapers,” he said, after which he apologised quietly to pressmen, saying he did not intend to offend them. Jazimin was speaking to reporters after a visit from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who was here yesterday to offer her condolences. Dr Wan Azizah spent an hour talking with the family and consoling them.

Bangladeshi held for forcing girl to perform oral sex on him

By RASHITHA A. HAMID

ABOVE & BELOW: The suspected child molester. The problems faced by immigrant workers and a great number of local young able bodied men- unable to find release to their natural physical urges. Legalize prostitution may be one solution. Look at the animal kingdom, the female cats are being preyed upon once the male ones are in the heat

SHAH ALAM: A Bangladeshi factory worker was arrested for allegedly forcing a seven-year-old girl to perform oral sex on him. The girl was playing firecrackers with her brother behind their grandmother’s house in Sungai Kandis last Saturday night when the suspect, in his 20s, approached her without her brother realising it. The foreigner asked the girl to follow him to his house nearby. Not suspecting anything, the girl followed him. Once they entered the house, the suspect threatened the girl and asked her to perform oral sex on him. The girl, who was afraid, obeyed him.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Noor Azam Jamaludin (ABOVE) said the girl was not raped and was released by the suspect, who has been in the country for the past year. “The girl was allowed to go home after about 20 minutes,” he said, adding that the girl told her family the incident once she reached home. Her parents immediately lodged a report at the Shah Alam district police headquarters. ACP Noor Azam said the suspect was arrested a short while after the report was lodged. The suspect has been remanded until Wednesday.

Puteri Umno To Distribute Guidebook On Children's Safety

ABOVE: Datuk Noraini Ahmad was also quoted (jokingly in electronic media) that it should include the term "oral sex"and its meaning. Then this guidebook should also be given to the Puteri girls.

TELUK INTAN, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- Puteri Umno plans to produce a guideboook on children's safety to protect underage girls from falling prey to sexual predators. Its chief Datuk Noraini Ahmad (ABOVE) said the guidebook would be distributed to the primary school students as they were most at risk. "Existing laws on sexual crimes also have to be reviewed to enable more effective enforcement," she told reporters after presenting aid to single mothers and disabled people in Kampung Gajah near here yesterday. Her comment comes in the wake of the rape and murder of a missing girl, Nurin Jazlin Jazimin, eight, whose naked body was found stuffed in a bag in Petaling Jaya on Monday, one month after her disappearance. The girl went missing after going on her own to a night market nearby her home in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur. Noraini also proposed that pictures of sexual offenders, especially those who had preyed on children, be published in the media.

Negligence Charge On Nurin's Parents Within The LawNazri

ABOVE: the learned but uncaring de facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri

KUALA KANGSAR, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- The possibility of the police charging the parents of senseless child murder victim Nurin Jazlin Jazimin for alleged negligence is in accordance with provisions in theChild Protection Act.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said: "Law is law...we need to take action, nobody can slip away." The minister, who is in charge of law and legal matters, was asked to comment on the statement by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan on the possibility of the police charging Jazimin Abdul Jalil, 33, and his wife, Norazian Bistaman, 35, for negligence. Musa said on Friday Jazimin and Norazian are being investigated for possible negligence. He had said they may face charges under the Child Protection Act 2001 if investigations showed their negligence had contributed to Nurin's death.

Section 33 of the Act provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or a maximum two-year jail term or both for parents or guardians found guilty of leaving their child. Musa had said while there was a provision under the law to charge negligent parents, it was never invoked. "It is high time for parents to be more responsible for their children's safety," he said. The IGP's statement, however, prompted negative reaction from various parties. Speaking to reporters after handing Amanah Raya Berhad tithe to 650 single parents and orphans here last night, Mohamed Nazri said the police investigations were in line with the Rukun Negara principle -- Rule of Law. He said the tragic death of innocent Nurin was a heart-wrenching episode that should serve as a lesson to all parties, especially parents, to equally play their role in ensuring their children's safety.

UPDATE: MAGIC in Nurin’s DEATH
It appears there is a miscommunication and confusion between the Police and the Parents involved who now claimed they were given the “official” results at 10.00pm on Thursday 13 Sept. 07. Once they accepted the results, there was this magic “the face was now recognisable even though just a day before it was not” when they claim it the next day. They explained it as “hikmah”

Still on the DNA results (An Original Article by the Host Blogger)

We wish to state here that we are not holding any grudge with the Police in relation to the fact that the DNA results were disseminated to the whole world before officially notifying the parents concerned.

Still on DNA - Part 2 (An Original Article by the Host Blogger)

A number of readers suggested that a second DNA should have been taken to erase all doubts. This was what our stand initially as well upon being bried on the DNA report by the PJ OCPD at 10.00 p.m., 20th September 2007. However, as explained in my earlier post, it was the parents who had decided to rely on the DNA coupled with the dental records in their decision to claim the body (of which now has been confirmed as Nurin) along with the acceptance that the body had various other similar features to Nurin indeed in the wee hours of Friday, 21st September 2007. With that decision, the earlier arrangement made with IPD Petaling Jaya for a second DNA test coupled with veryfing the body against Nurin's medical records, thumb print etc on that Friday morning was called of. When the parents informed the Police that we are now would be claiming the bosy instead, the body was then prepared accordingly to Islamic rites (mandi mayat).

When we arrived at the mortuary to collect the body, it all clear to everyone, including Jazimin that the body was no other than Nurin. This might sound like coming from a religious movie script, but that is the fact, the face was now recognisable even though just a day before it was not.

There is a "hikmah" in this, the act of the parents agreeing to the DNA results (which was made available to them last), had sort of avoided the body to continue to be in limbo for a few more days. Therefore, the family is genuinely certain that the body claimed was none other than Nurin, and there is no necessity for a second DNA test. It is rather unfortunate that there are some parties who are trying to cast doubts to the mother's mind by continuosly asking whether she was certain of the body was Nurin and not someone else. They had actually "integorated" her at the burial grounds itself, at a time when one was in their lowest point. They have actually succeeded in getting some "confessions" from the mother that fits their agenda to paint the Police force as an (one) "unreliable" and "despicable" force that works around conspiracy theory.

So readers, if you are to come across any notion of such in any press (or article) reports within the next few days, please take my word, you can actually chuck the whole newspaper into the dustbin as the journalism practice in getting that news scoop was totally deplorable. No one should be casting any doubt that Nurin has been safely buried at 2.45 pm 21st September 2007 at the Ibu Kota Muslim Burial Grounds, Kuala Lumpur.

Nurin tragedy: Blurred image of 'Kampung Baru molester' captured on film

By : Lee Shi-Ian, V. Shuman and Fadhal Ilahi Ab Ghani, NST

ABOVE:Federal CID director Datuk Christopher Wan ( right) leaving the building after the visit yesterday.

PETALING JAYA: A man was seen getting off a motorcycle and walking with a sports bag into the building where the body of Nurul Jazlin Jazimin was found. Police now believe they have a strong description of the 'Kampung Baru molester' who is now linked to Nurin's abduction and murder. The image of the man was captured on a closed-circuit camera in a neighbouring building along PJS 1/48 in Petaling Jaya Utama.

Although the image is said to be blurred, this is the first time police have a description of the suspect. Police are now enhancing the image digitally. The suspect is said to be in his 30s. Police are also looking for a couple in a silver Perodua Kenari who were also captured by the CCTV at the scene. Witnesses had seen the Malay woman in her 20s seated on the staircase with a "Diadora" bag next to her, but the CCTV footage did not show the woman walking into the building with the bag. She was later seen leaving the place in the Perodua Kenari. The "Kampung Baru molester" is wanted in connection with the molest case of two girls, aged five and six. The suspect had taken the girls away on his motorcycle after asking them to help to locate his missing cat.

Both girls were promised an ice-cream treat if they helped him. But the girls were molested and had brinjals forced into their private parts before they were released several hours later. In Nurin's case, she was held captive for almost a month before her body turned up in a sports bag which was left at the foot of a staircase in a building at PJS1/48 on Monday. A post mortem revealed that Nurin was also molested and had a brinjal and a cucumber forced into her private parts. The modus operandi in all three cases appeared to be the same, except that in Nurin's case, she was not released alive. The other similarity in the three cases is the lone suspect on a motorcycle. Federal CID director Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee yesterday confirmed that they were relooking the earlier cases involving the "Kampung Baru molester" in their investigation into Nurin's case. Short of saying that Nurin's murder could have been the work of a serial molester, Wan said they were trying to ascertain if there was a link in all three cases.

The New Straits Times learnt that police had interviewed the two earlier victims several times but they had been giving contradictory evidence. Sources said the victims who are toddlers could not provide police with a photofit of the suspect. They also could not tell police where they were taken to and attacked. Yesterday afternoon, Wan visited the scene where Nurin's body was found. Accompanied by several police officers from Selangor, Wan spent about an hour interviewing tenants of the three-storey building. It is learnt that Wan is now overseeing investigations into Nurin's abduction and murder. The eight-year-old went missing on Aug 20 after going to a night market near her house in Section 1, Wangsa Maju.

Nurin's murder: CID director heads probe

Hope this inhuman beast can be apprehended ASAP

No one "dies" before their time. When the soul is ready to release the body, when it has accomplished what it came here to do, it moves on, even in the case of infants & children. What could they accomplish? – You might ask. They may have come into this life to experience unconditional love, to feel the physical body, to experiment with changing form, to give love or other gifts, to meet a personal karmic situation as self-judgment, a point of view, something that had to be confronted and processed. There is always a reason., to reallize that each soul is making these decisions is a beautiful, healing and freeing experience.

Existence is larger than life or death. Life and death are both states of existence. An identity exists whether it is in the state of life or in the state of death. A death is just night to your soul.

Father Claims Nurin's Body For Burial

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- An emotional Jazimin Abdul Jalil finally came to terms with the death of his daughter Nurin Jazlin Jazimin and was at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary Friday morning to claim her body for burial. Jazimin, who yesterday adamantly refused to accept that the girl's body found stuffed in a sports bag was that of his missing eight-year-old daughter despite the DNA test proving otherwise, could not control his emotions and was in tears as he went through the procedures of claiming the body of Nurin, a victim of brutal murder and sexual abuse.

Jazimin, clad in a pink "baju Melayu" and black trousers, accompanied by family members and relatives, was handed Nurin's body at 11.15am. After a short prayer, the body was taken to a van. At the family's house in Section One, Wangsa Maju, Nurin's mother, Norazian Bistaman anxiously waited for her husband's return with their daughter, fondly called "Kak Ngah" by family members and neighbours.

Nurin was buried after Friday prayers. The body of the missing girl Nurin Jazlin Jazimin, 8, was finally laid to rest at the Ibu Kota Muslim Cemetery in Taman Danau Kota on Friday. She was buried at around 2.25pm after which the talqin (burial rituals) was recited at 2.32pm..

Yesterday, police confirmed the results of the DNA test done on the blood samples taken from the dead girl matched that of Jazimin, 33, and Norazian, 35. However, Nurin's parents were doubtful over the findings and asked for a second DNA test. The outcome will be known on Sunday. Nurin, a Standard Two pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Setapak, was missing since Aug 20 when she went to a night market near her home in Wangsa Maju on her own. She was last seen being dragged into a white van by a man. On Monday, an employee of a book distribution company found a sports bag at the bottom of a staircase of a shoplot in PJS1/48, Petaling Utama, and brought into her working place, thinking that it belonged to her boss. Her boss later opened the bag and discovered the naked body of a girl believed to be between six and nine-years-old in a foetal position in the brand new bag.

Police later found bruise marks on her neck, suggesting strangulation, and a brinjal and a cucumber inserted in her private parts. Meanwhile, thousands of mourners, including children, from all races paid their last respects to Nurin at the Assa'Adah Madrasah in Wangsa Maju where the funeral rites were performed.

Among them was Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil(ABOVE) . Policemen were seen diverting traffic to ease congestion.

CID Director Heads Special Probe Team On Nurin's Murder – IGP

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Police have set up a special probe team headed by Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee to investigate the brutal murder of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin whose body was found in a foetal position in a sports bag in Petaling Utama on Monday. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said: "I view this case very seriously and we are gathering information. This probe team has special strategies and their own networking to nab the murderer. "At the moment, I cannot reveal the strategies and their modus operandi in investigating this case because if we reveal everything, the suspect will flee," he told Bernama Friday.

Musa did not rule out the possibility of the suspect moving out of the Klang Valley following extensive media publicity following Nurin's disappearance on Aug 20 and discovery of her body at the bottom of a staircase of a shoplot. "I want all parties to cooperate in this case and not to make speculations in the media. We are trying our level best," he said. Nurin, 8, a Year Two pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Setapak, went missing when she went on her own to a night market near her home at Section One in Wangsa Maju. She was last seen being dragged into a white van by a man. On Monday, an employee of a book distribution company found a sports bag at a shoplot in Petaling Utama and brought into her working place, thinking that it belonged to her boss.

Police later found bruise marks on her neck, suggesting strangulation, and a brinjal and a cucumber inserted in her private parts.A DNA test yesterday confirmed the body was that of Nurin. Meanwhile, it is learnt that police have recorded statements from a man who was seen near the shoplot a day before the sports bag bearing Nurin's body was found. Police believe the man could provide vital information to solve the case. Police are also viewing recordings of closed-circuit television cameras installed in adjacent buildings of the shoplot.
