Malaysiakini news released on same day at 2.57pm. Be the first to know. The electronic media is giving this trial coverage now "2nd class" treatment- usually at the 2nd part of the bulletin or at the end. Who is orchestrating this order? If Not MMC then it must the the 4th Floor boys!
Abdul Razak's Missing Lap top - why it was so hard to find? An expensive item and in daily used. Why do you think they went on a wild goose chase to locate it and giving all the red herrings? Well someone was busy going through it and getting rid of any incriminating data. Perhaps there were some photos and some strayed emails and whatnots. It was finally retrived from "his car" parked at the office and handed over by his wife Mazlinda. Believe it or not! = == = == == = == == = == = == = ==

DAY 17

ABOVE: DSP Lim given the "dirty job" to arrest Baginda but instead had a refreshment treat from the hungry remanded Abdul Razak

SHAH ALAM (July 11, 2007): Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda served refreshments to the eight policemen who arrived in his office to arrest him on the morning of Nov 7, the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial heard today. DSP Lim Meng Seah (ABOVE), who led the arresting team, drew laughter when he admitted his men had refreshments while Abdul Razak had his breakfast. There were more red faces when he admitted under cross-examination that they were served refreshments again when the team brought Abdul Razak back to his office to look for other items two days later.

Lim said during cross-examination by Abdul Razak's lawyer, Wong Kian Kheong, that Abdul Razak did not resist arrest and had cooperated with the police. Lim and the seven men, consisting of detectives and uniformed personnel, went to the Malaysian Strategic Research Centre office on the 10th floor of Bangunan Lembaga Getah Asli Malaysia and entered after asking his staff if Abdul Razak was in. After identifying himself and showing his authority card to Abdul Razak, Lim told Abdul Razak he was there to arrest him for investigations into the murder of Altantuya.
Wong: You said you went to his office without informing him, agree?
Lim: Agree.

Wong: On Nov 7, 2006, Abdul Razak did not resist when he was arrested, agree?
Lim: Agree.
Wong: As a senior police officer, do you know that an arrested person has the right to remain silent?
Lim: Yes.

Wong: After his arrest, Abdul Razak continued to answer your questions when you asked him about the numbers to the two handphones belonging to him which you seized from him and recorded in the search list?
Lim: Yes.
Wong: Agree he cooperated fully with you and your team?
Lim: Agree.
Lim, who is with the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters' serious crime division (D9), admitted they were served refreshments by Abdul Razak when his team arrived to pick him up. The court burst into laughter upon hearing Lim's reply.
He became more embarrassed when Wong asked if refreshments were again served to him and his team, when Abdul Razak was taken to his office on Nov 9 to look for other items.
Wong: During the visit to Abdul Razak's father's house, drinks were served, agree?
Lim: Disagree.
Wong: The third accused (Abdul Razak) cooperated when visiting his father's house?
Lim: Yes.
Later, during re-examination by DPP Manoj Kurup, Lim explained that when they went to arrest Abdul Razak, he and his team were served refreshments because the political analyst claimed he had not had breakfast and was allowed to do so.
On the second visit, Lim said, Abdul Razak again had his breakfast in his office when he was brought there from the lock-up because he had not had breakfast in the lock-up.
Judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin asked if breakfast was not served to Abdul Razak, and Lim replied he did not have it.

The courtroom was again filled with laughter when Mohd Zaki said one can eat again even after one had had breakfast. Before that, Lim told the court he was instructed by DSP Gan Teck Guan to arrest Abdul Razak. He said that during the second visit to his office, Abdul Razak handed over four Hotel Malaya memos, containing notes allegedly written by Altantuya and which were dropped in his office by the Mongolian after she failed to meet him in his office.

Lim said he read the memos and recalled some of the words to the court: "You love money or love your life "and "I came with my father wait for you outside".He said in addition to the handphones, they seized two laptop computers, and the visitor's registration book from the building security guard. One of the computers was handed over to him by Abdul Razak's wife, Mazlinda Makhzan, after the police team failed to find it in Abdul Razak's father's house when the political analyst was taken there to look for it.

Lim said Abdul Razak's parents, wife, daughter and lawyer Datuk Muhammad Shafee Abdullah were in the house, and they told police the computer could be in the car belonging to Abdul Razak which was parked in his office building. Lim said Abdul Razak's family told them they would retrieve the computer and hand it over to the police. The item was later given to investigating officer ASP Tony Lunggan.

Two policewomen who are colleagues of the prosecution star witness L/Cpl Rohaniza Roslan testified today. They are colleagues of Rohaniza in the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters' anti-vice, secret society and gambling division.

* Constable Azura Azwa Abdul Kadir (ABOVE) told DPP Hanim Rashid that Rohaniza had asked her on Oct 31 which police station was busier - Travers or Brickfields - and she had replied Brickfields.
* L/Cpl Leena Asing (ABOVE) testified that Rohaniza speed-dialled the Brickfields district police headquarters on Oct 31 and asked if any report of missing persons, sudden death report (SDR) or body found had been lodged.
Just before lunch break, the prosecution called Loo Mow Chan, Hotel Malaya's operations manager, to testify.

'Cpl Sirul took MP 5 (silencer) sub-machine gun from UTK armoury'

SHAH ALAM (July 11, 2007): Murder accused Cpl Sirul Azhar Umar had taken a MP 5 (silencer) sub-machine gun from the Special Action Unit (UTK) armoury on Oct 4 and returned it on Oct 30, the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial was told today.

UTK armoury operative PC Fatimah Abdul Wahab, 30 (ABOVE) , said Sirul Azhar was given 60 bullets for the firearm but returned them all. Questioned by DPP Manoj Kurup in the examination-in-chief, she said she knew that Sirul Azhar had returned all the bullets on Oct 30 - even though the records were blank on this detail - because she had counted the bullets. Earlier, the court was told of the entry in the "outgoing and incoming weapons register" which indicated that Sirul Azhar had obtained the gun from the armoury.
The register stated that he took the sub-machine gun at 2pm on Oct 4 and returned it at 8.15am on Oct 30. The records stated he took out the weapon for special duty. Asked what "special duty" was, Fatimah said she did not know. She said it was recorded as special duty based on a support letter from Sirul Azhar's superior - which is needed before weapons are released. However, she could not remember the superior's name.

When Manoj asked why the column in the register, which states how many bullets Sirul Azhar had taken and returned was left blank, Fatimah said: "I may have been busy, it's my mistake, I forgot to write it down." Judge Mohd Zaki Md Yasin then pointed out that of the 60 columns in the book, only 12 had details of the number of bullets taken and returned. Fatimah told the court it was a norm for those on armoury duty not to record the number of bullets taken and returned, and that she was not the only one who failed to do so.

She said a UTK operative cannot take out weapons from the armoury for others, unless it is for special duties, operation, or for practice purposes. Fatimah said: "Bullets are provided according to the weapon taken." She said 60 bullets are provided for MP5 and 24 for Glocks and Brownings pistols. Fatimah told the court that the procedure of giving and returning weapons was similar for all divisions in the police force. However, she was not aware of written regulations on the right procedure as she only followed what had been done by her seniors.
