Dr Chua Soi Lek - last farewell at his Putra Jaya Office. He went there at 10.30 am to clear up some of his personal documents and show newsmen the many unfinished tasks.
He also mentioned that he would not be pursuing the matter as he felt the police would also be unable to do much. He added on the DVDs are dated 6-8 months ago and much background work was done to release them at the right time to discredit & destroy him politically.

Bukit Aman Forensic Team Visits Hotel In Dr Chua's Sex DVD Case

BATU PAHAT, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- A seven-member forensic team from the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters Thursday visited a four-star hotel here believed to be in connection with investigations into the sex DVD featuring former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek. The team, comprising six men and a woman, arrived at the hotel at about 3.35pm in two vehicles but did not speak to reporters who had gathered at the 15-storey hotel since morning. Dr Chua announced his resignation yesterday as the Health Minister, MCA vice-president, Johor MCA chairman, Batu Pahat MCA division chief and Labis member of parliament, with immediate effect. His announcement came a day after he admitted that he was the man in the sex DVDs circulating in Johor. Meanwhile, the Malaysia Association of Hotels said it would send notices to all its 400 members to be wary of irresponsible people installing spy cameras in hotel rooms. Its executive director Sarjit Singh said the association would remind hoteliers to be on the lookout for individuals, including hotel staff, who might attempt to breach hotel guests' privacy. He said closed-circuit television cameras were installed in foyers, lobbies, lifts, car parks and around hotel premises for security surveillance except in hotel rooms. "If spy cameras are installed in hotel rooms, then they are obviously against ethics and regulations," he told Bernama. He also advised the public not to be unduly worried over their privacy when they stay in hotels in the country. "We want to assure hotel guests their security and privacy are guaranteed," he said. Health Minister Chua quits over sex video

PUTRAJAYA (Jan 2, 2008): Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek today announced his resignation as Health Minister, Labis MP and from all MCA posts, less than 24 hours after his shocked admission that he was the senior politician featured in a a widely circulated sex video. Chua, a former MCA vice-president, has apologised after two DVDs showing him engaging in sexual acts with an unidentified woman hit the streets, said he was certain Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi would accept his resignation. Chua had said the woman was his "personal friend". The scandal is the latest in a series of problems plaguing Abdullah's government which has been widely expected to call a snap election in the coming weeks. "After I made my confession, I had hoped Malaysians would be able to acept my apology," the 61-year-old Chua told reporters.

“Unfortunately, from the feedback I received, I observed that Malaysians cannot accept it." "Some Malaysians have a holier than thou attitude," said Chua, a medical doctor by training. Chua, who said the woman was a "personal friend" insisted yesterday he would not resign over the issue, drawing a sharp rebuke from people within and outside government. "Perhaps, painful as it may be to him, Chua should relinquish his government position to save himself and the government from further anguish," the pro-government New Straits Times daily said in a commentary today.

Chua, a father of three, said he did not make the two sex DVDs. Newspapers have said the DVDs were closed-circuit recordings made two years ago in a hotel room. One DVD lasted 56 minutes and the other 44 minutes. Police were probing the case, including on who made the recordings and how four cameras came to be in the room of a hotel in the southern state of Johor, New Straits Times said. Abdullah's four-year-old administration has been beset with major problems lately, a sign he may be forced to delay elections beyond March, when many had expected them to take place. In late November, more than 10,000 ethnic Indians took to the streets in an unprecedented protest to complain of racial discrimination. - Reuters

Chua Soi Lek Says He's The Man In Sex Video

LABIS, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- "I am the man in the tape," said Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, the Health Minister and MCA vice-president, as he admitted to be the person captured on a videotape while engaging in sexual acts with a woman friend. But despite his admission of guilt over the matter, Dr Chua stressed that he would not resign from his government and party positions. "I serve at the pleasure of the prime minister," he said. "I will not allow (other) people to jeopardise or obstruct my duties." Reading from a prepared statement at a press conference at the Labis MCA office here, the minister said he had met Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in Putrajaya yesterday to explain the matter and personally apologise to the prime minister.

Dr Chua, one of the six vice-presidents in the MCA, said he had also met Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting over the matter. He described the woman involved as a personal friend. Copies of the pornographic videotape were widely distributed in Johor in DVD format over the last few days. "What's most important is that my family, wife and children have accepted my apology," he told the packed news conference, which was also attended by his supporters. He appealed to the press to allow some space for his family to deal with this difficult time. Stressing that he did not make the recordings himself, Dr Chua said that who were behind it were not important but their reasons for doing it were obvious. However, he declined to elaborate.

Dr Chua extended his apology to his colleagues, supporters and fellow Malaysians. "I would also like to thank them for their concern and support through phone calls and SMSes," he said.When asked by reporters on his next course of action, Dr Chua said he would leave it to the police to investigate. "I leave it to the police to investigate. I'm considering the possibility of making a police report but the police have started their own investigation," he said. Dr Chua said he came to know about the recordings on Sunday when a friend gave him a copy of the video disc. The minister said it would be business as usual for him and he would continue to perform his duties as a Cabinet minister and in the MCA. Dr Chua, who appeared calm and composed throughout the press conference, attended a function at the Segamat Hospital prior to meeting the media. He then headed for a meeting with the Indian community in Labis.

At the end of the news conference, Labis MCA chairman Tan Kok Hong said members of the division would continue to support Dr Chua as Labis Member of Parliament. "We'll continue to support him as the (Barisan Nasional) candidate for Labis (in the general election)," he said. Dr Chua, who is also Johor MCA chairman, won the Labis parliamentary seat for the BN in the 2004 general election, beating DAP's Tee Gey Yan by a 10,729-vote majority. Dr Chua garnered 16,469 votes against Tee's 5,740. The Labis parliamentary seat was previously held by former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik. Sources told Bernama that Dr Chua, who will turn 61 tomorrow, was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Wong Sek Hin, when he went to see Abdullah at Seri Perdana yesterday to explain about the DVD. e

At the meeting, Dr Chua had admitted he was the person in the DVD, which was recorded two years ago. Following that meeting, it was decided that the health minister should reveal the matter publicly, the sources said. Meanwhile, MCA president Ong, when contacted, said the party would call for an emergency presidential meeting tomorrow afternoon as it was an important matter for the party leadership to discuss after having taken note of Dr Chua's statement. Sex DVDs of ‘politician’ out in Johor

MUAR: Two DVDs showing a man resembling a prominent senior politician, and a woman engaging in various sexual antics, are being widely circulated in Tangkak, Batu Pahat and here. The DVDs are believed to be closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings in a hotel suite. However, the hotel’s location and the date of the recording are not known. It is learnt that the first DVD lasting 56 minutes has footage of four different camera angles of the hotel suite – the bed, living area, entrance to the bathroom and the main door. It purportedly shows the man and woman entering the room separately. The second DVD lasting 44 minutes is said to show the couple engaged in sex acts on the bed. Those who claim to have seen the two DVDs said they were convinced the man in the DVDs was the prominent politician based on his gait and mannerisms.

The existence of the DVD was first reported in the Chinese dailies on Sunday while a Bahasa Malaysia daily reported about it yesterday. News of the two DVDs are also being circulated widely on the Internet, adding to the controversy. Sources said the lurid DVDs were now difficult to obtain, as those holding them fear that the police would act against those distributing and being in possession of the DVDs. The DVDs, with the name of the politician on them, were first reportedly left at various locations in Muar on Saturday for people to pick up. Some copies were also said to be distributed to shops in the town.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said no police report had been lodged yet over the DVDs. “However, I urge the reporter with the newspaper that initially broke the story to come forward. We need to know how he came across the DVD,” he told TV3. Bernama quoted Batu Pahat district chief Asst Comm Ibrahim Mohd Aris as advising those in possession of the DVDs to surrender them to the authorities. He warned that anyone found in possession of the DVDs or caught distributing copies of them could be charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code and sentenced to three years' jail or fined, or both.= == = == == = ==

Police will investigate the authenticity of the Sex Video allegedly involving a Senior Politician. The video made into two separate DVDs said to be widely distributed in Muar and Tangkak. The IGP said the police will ascertain to what extent the DVD has been distributed and also the persons distributing them. He said the police have yet to receive a complaint or police report lodged by the alleged person.


Local Chinese dailies have over the past two days reported the DVDs were first distributed in Muar and then in Batu Pahat and Seremban.

Copies of the DVDs were anonymously placed in various streets in Muar town for people to collect.


Some copies were also distributed to a number of shops to collect. The video depicting the alleged sex act was believed to have been recorded using a CCTV

JOHOR BARU: A minister has been linked to a sex scandal following the emergence of DVDs showing a couple in a bedroom romp. The man in the DVDs is said to resemble a senior MCA politician from Johor. Police have started an investigation into the distribution of the DVDs in several places, including Muar and Batu Pahat. Johor police chief Datuk Hussin Ismail said police were investigating the matter under Section 292 of the Penal Code for distribution of obscene materials. The discs were reportedly dropped into the postboxes of selected houses and shops in Muar and Batu Pahat. Residents found the discs on Sunday morning. The name of the minister involved is said to have been written on the DVD cover. "We have reason to suspect that the discs contain pornographic material and, as such, it is an offence to either possess or distribute them," Hussin said. Those found guilty under Section 292 may face a jail term of up to three years, a fine or both. "I urge those who have received the discs to come forward and inform the police."

A New Straits Times reader who had watched the two DVDs called to describe the video recording. According to him, the movements, build and complexion of the man in the DVDs resembled that of a prominent Johor politician. The first disc, which is 60 minutes long, consists of four different angles of a single black and white recording of what appears to be a hotel room. The second disc is an enlargement of the high angle above the bed. It is not known who made the recordings. The reader claimed he found the DVDs in his letterbox on Sunday morning. Chinese newspaper Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported yesterday that its Seremban office received a copy of the DVD in an envelope. There was no stamp on the envelope. Meanwhile, MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting yesterday declined to comment on the matter.

Attempts to contact other senior MCA leaders also drew a blank. Calls to MCA secretary-general Datuk Ong Ka Chuan, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn went unanswered. A political aide to an MCA central committee member said: "For now, it still seems confined to rumours." An aide to another party leader said: "Maybe after today, (the central committee members) will have a clearer picture of the situation." Johor Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, repeatedly said: "I don't know, I don't know. Really? Is that right? I don't know how to respond." Johor MCA liaison deputy chairman Tan Kok Hong said: "I do not know anything." Former MCA vice-president Datuk Chua Jui Meng said: "I don't know about any of this."

30 Chinese nationals nabbed in raid

IPOH: Thirty women from China were picked up during a police raid on a karaoke bar here. Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias said the girls aged 18 to 31 were detained at an entertainment outlet here on Dec 31 at 12.15am. They are believed to have violated their social visit passes, he said. "We've received information that the place was full of foreigners working as GROs. "Some of the girls were found hiding in several modified secret rooms," he said in a statement released Monday.

It was not the first time that police have raided the premises. In 2007 alone, 18 raids had been carried out on the same entertainment outlet previously, said ACP Azisman. "Altogether 133 Chinese nationals and two Indonesians were picked up during those raids," he said. "We will write to the city council to terminate the centre's licence and permit for failure to adhere to laws and regulations," he said. As for the latest raid, police also detained a 26-year-old man to assist in investigations. The case would be investigated under Section 39 of the Immigration Regulations 1963 and Section 55 (B) of the Immigration Act 1959/63
