The disclosures by Datuk Ramli's is another black mark for Malaysia as the news flash around the world following closely so many other bad news. Nazri is a little slow (how did he qualify as lawyer in the first place?) to understand and appreciate things when he questioned he did not understand Ramli's complaint of leakages to the press; in particular teh NST & Berita Harian which exposed his problems 3 months ago. This is humiliation and character assassination without names.

No need to mention names, a "Senior Officer" will do and if you start eliminating there are not that many in the Police force and when the Officer starts to show "symptoms" and being ostracized; people will know. This is dirty tactics, Just as in the judiciary, he cannot understand and would argue that there is "no judiciary crisis" - only just a figment of the imagination of the easily swayed "1000 lawyers" and the ever opposing opposition parties & NGOs. Maybe he would also want to take his interpretation to court and then the Judges would decide in his favor also. He has not touch of Ramli's complaint of ACA disclosing the names of informants that got 3 of his officers to be charged.

ABOVE & BELOW: No need name , "Senior Officer" will do, we know who he is NOW

Basically this "washing of dirty linen" is bad for the Government and with the press tightly reigned in they would not want further erosion of what a rotten government we have when everything can be fixed if you are out of favor. Even good lawyers talking a good walk (about time for some exercise) to Putrajaya can frightened the daylights out of the government.

For 37 years he was supposed to be taint free in corrupt practices and all of a sudden he was slapped with a notice and when they dig & dug further and discovered further evidence he forgot to include; they now can
accused him& charge him with perjury - "It is a crime because the witness has sworn to tell the truth "

Just like Samy Vellu, the staunch BN supporter, he has not many moons ago (May 07) openly declared "I have done nothing wrong". The ACA has investigated him for 3 months and cleared him of "legalized corruption". Now If he were to turn against the government (with his threats) and join the DAP, they can then dug again further and if they discovered he has not fully discovered his hideaway in Sungei Siput, then he can also be hauled to court when he is out of favor.
The simple message is very clear, "toe the line, to stay alive" & “back the right horse to win in
Malaysia.

Speak In Court Not To The Media - Nazri

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) Director Datuk Ramli Yusuff should use the court to defend himself and not speak out to the media about the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) investigation on him, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz. He said Ramli's statement to the media yesterday was discussed by the Cabinet at its meeting today but no decision was made. "We feel that Datuk Ramli should defend himself in court and not give a press conference," he told reporters at an Aidilfitri function by Amanah Raya Berhad (ARB), here today.

Nazri was commenting on the press conference by Ramli yesterday admitting that he was the senior police officer reported by the media to own assets of RM27 million. During the 45-minute conference, Ramli told the media that he was the officer being investigated by the ACA but denied owning that much assets. Ramli also regretted that the ACA had leaked information to a newspaper that he was being investigated although it should be kept secret as it was not completed and the facts were not true. Declaring himself free of corruption up to Sept 6, 2006, he said this was why he was confirmed as a senior police officer with the rank of Commissioner. He said the ACA had breached Section 21 (8) of the Anti-Corruption Act for leaking information on him while he waited three months to come forward with a statement to allow the ACA to conduct investigation.

Nazri said he did not understand what Ramli meant when he claimed that ACA had leaked information as the agency did not leak out the name of the officer under investigation. "The ACA told me it did not give out the name of the officer being investigated. I do not understand what he meant when he said we did not protect him." He added a witness who made a sworn statement would be charged in court if it was found to be untrue. "That's perjury and the person will be charged. We cannot protect him. Perjury is the act of lying or making verifiably false statement on a material matter under oath or affirmation in a court of law or in any of various sworn statements in writing.

"It is a crime because the witness has sworn to tell the truth and, for the credibility of the court, witness testimony must be relied on as being truthful." Asked whether Ramli would be charged in court following the ACA investigation, Nazri who is responsible for the law said he did not know.
