MORE Pics-VIDEO CLIP-RIDING STUNTS of MAT REMPIT- No CRASH HELMET - PILLION Rider STANDING - BIKE ON 1 WHEEL; 3000 ATTENDED MERDEKA BASH & Police RAID
The 40 secs video clip was aired by TV3 recently and it was send to them at newstv3-com.my from Kedah. From the enhanced images (BELOW) they are setting a very bad example by doing these stunts without wearing safety helmets and are pure exhibitionists seeking cheap thrills and publicity. Even the circus people would have taken the safety precautions for these stunts.

The government in desperation and unable to control the Mat Rempits (illegal motorcycle riders) is “joining them” and even “learning from them” and encouraging them to continue their illegal activities. And come November the PM is rebranding them as smart guys with excellent riding skills and capable of illegal modifying engines to run at higher speeds without realizing the dangers of explosion when the engines are installed with oversized pistons with its mass reduced. All these are presumably being taught and learned at the Mara skills training centres.
For too long there have been no enforcements on these people for all the wrong things they have done- riding without helmets, licenses, insurance, illegal engine modification and speeding and “30 Mat Rempit will beat us if we cause trouble” – this is actually what happened (see report below) even though they might be in the wrong.

Rebranding Of 'Mat Rempit' On The Cards;
He said the rebranding of Mat Rempit was to change the illegal race participants' image towards something better, and "we are thinking of a suitable name like Mat Cemerlang (Excellent Mat)."
"We are finding a proper direction for them. We could not stop them to continue with their interests but we can guide them to find a direction," he told reporters after officiating the Malaysian Pengasih Association's Eighth General Meeting here Sunday.
Abdul Azeez said they should not be perceived as a threat, adding that, "If we cannot stop them, we join them. We try to understand them because they are our youths."
At the three-day assembly starting from this Nov 12, several competitions would be held for the Mat Rempit with prizes including a Satria Neo and a motorcycle.
Abdul Azeez said several things that could be learnt from these illegal riders were their strong camaraderie and a large membership of at least 5,000 riders despite being an unregistered club.
"Due to this strong bond, 30 Mat Rempit will beat us if we cause trouble with its members," he added.
He said Putera Umno did not want the bond to be inclined towards negative elements but wanted to drive the youths away from drugs and encouraged them to pursue their studies.
He said for an example, a representative from a Honda motorcycle and car dealer was impressed with the riding skills of these Mat Rempit.
The representative was also amazed with the engineering skills of the Mat Rempit, boosting the speed of their motorcycles to 180 kilometres per hour considering that the company's engineers were having difficulties to achieve a speed of 120 kilometres per hour.

Abdul Azeez said this Aug 26, he and Umno Youth Vice Chief Khairy Jamaluddin would come down to the ground on their motorcycles to meet the Mat Rempit.

ACP Jalaludin added that a team of policemen, who were on crime prevention rounds, stumbled upon the commotion and managed to prevent the situation from getting out of hand. “Fifteen people, three of them college students, were picked up,” he added, noting that the illegal racers had been remanded for three days until tomorrow. What makes the Mat Rempit 'fly' ;28 Aug 2006

Speed, money, women, drugs and fame still beckon the illegal street racers. You can't take the machines from the Mat Rempit but some are trying to take the danger out of their racing. Khalid Samad, 18, a postal worker from Petaling Jaya, has the answer: "What
other excitement is there?"
For him, and thousands of other Mat Rempit, the preferred lifestyle after a hard day's work is to sit astride a noisy motorcycle to frighten the daylights out of other motorists and pedestrians.
"Come on, man. You can't expect us to sit at home and watch television the whole weekend," he said during a recent interview. There is also the attraction of big money or women to be won at the end of
the day.
For young men earning an average of RM1,200 a month as junior staff in private firms, the temptation to take home a jackpot is irresistible.
Some race demons go a step further by injecting themselves with drugs before getting onto their machines. "If you want to ride through traffic at speeds exceeding 160kph, you must have guts," said Khalid.
"And for that, the best thing to do is to get so high that you become fearless."
Like many others, he was drawn to illegal racing after realising there was a lot of money involved. It is exactly like what one sees in movies: Girls, money and, of course, the
intoxicants.
"By racing, we not only get our share of excitement, but also get a chance to make money."
He came into the scene early in life when his older brother got him interested in illegal racing. Khalid, as a 13-year-old hero-worshipping younger brother, was easy prey
albeit an unusually young recruit into the ranks of the Mat Rempit.
He started off by helping his brother keep the motorcycle clean and trim. Slowly, he was allowed to take the motorcycle for a ride around the block. He soon began following his brother to the illegal races.
At 16, he got his driving licence and a whole new world opened up to him.
He took over his brother's Yamaha RXZ. After Form Five, he got a postal job, which has been keeping him going over the past year. However, the job is not central to his life: His Mat Rempit hours are.
Each day after work, he goes to the workshop down the corner from his home, and hangs out with other kaki motor and mechanics. It is at this workshop that they talk shop and modify their machines for better speed and pick up.
"If we are good enough, the taukeh (owner) will 'sponsor' us," he said. He recently traded in his old RXZ for a new one.
"Actually, a new RXZ can't really run. The most you can push it to is about 150kph. After modifications, my new bike can take me up to 180kph on a straight road."
His big nights are Fridays and Saturdays when all Mat Rempit and their girlfriends head for appointed race points that would make or break reputations.
His girlfriend is a big fan of his, and illegal racing. She even lends him money when he is broke, which happens often as he spends most of his wages on his motorcycle.
"If I don't win a race, I would be broke for the rest of the month."
He wins up to two races in a month with prize money coming up to RM3,000 if
the race is sponsored. Otherwise, the winner is assured of a minimum of RM300.
It is not unusual to hear of Mat Rempit betting their bikes or girlfriends on a race. According to Sam, 22, an illegal racer from Shah Alam, women were sometimes
part of the prize, depending on the size of the race.
"Sometimes racers bet more than they can afford as they are confident that they can win. When they lose, they force their girlfriends to 'settle' their debts," he said.

What they say about it
Putera UMNO
PUTERA Umno wants to turn Mat Rempit and their races into a tourist attraction.
It hopes to do this by re-organising the illegal races into a supervised activity.
There is potential in the Umno Youth junior wing's aspirations. Mat Rempit
usually have motorcycles that can reach speeds of up to 200kph. Coupled with
the "wheelies' and other stunts they are adept at, they are natural entertainers.
Putera Umno chairman Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said roads could be closed for organised Mat Rempit races. "Many roads are closed for pasar malam. Why can't we close the roads for our Mat Rempit once a week?"
"I know that there have been suggestions to allow them to race in Sepang and
Batu Tiga, but that is not feasible because of the distance and not many people would turn up to watch."
Azeez, who has spoken to Federal Territories Minister Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique, hopes to start street races in the
Azeez said Putera Umno would approach Mat Rempit and help them change for
the better under its Second Chance Programme.
"These youths failed to continue their studies, due to lack of interest or lack of money."
Over 1,200 of them are now enrolled in engineering courses at

YOUNG motorcyclists showing off their riding skills and endangering themselves and others in the process. This is DSP Tan Hiap Seng, KL City Traffic Operations and Enforcement Chief' s definition of the Mat Rempit.
"We don't classify them as 'illegal racers' as no betting is involved in the races," he said.
Tan feels the youth involved are just out to perform outrageous stunts for cheap thrills and to gain fame as a daredevil within their circle of friends.
The favourite racing "circuits" in Kuala Lumpur are near Dataran Merdeka, Taman Titiwangsa, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Parlimen, Bukit Petaling and the Jalan Pahang roundabout, Tasik Permaisuri (in Cheras), Jalan Ampang (near Gleneagles hospital), Jalan Maarof in Bangsar and the New Pantai Expressway near the Puchong exit.
Tan said police had a special team called Squad 42 to monitor Mat Rempit.
Last year, there were 298 cases of illegal racing, of which 290 involved motorcycles and eight cars. Of those held, 270 were Malays, 15 Indians and Chinese 11.
For the first six months of this year, there were 25 arrests.

Bikers a menace, not assets Saturday Sept 2, 2006
I REFER to your reports, "Mat Rempits our assets, says Putera Umno head" and "Bikers on smashing rampage" (The Star, Aug 31).
I wonder how Mat Rempits (bikers) can be assets? Surely Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim has encountered Mat Rempits riding dangerously at
They congregate by the hundreds, taunting fellow road users (I have seen them trailing and taunting car drivers), weaving through traffic at deadly speeds and, sometimes, resorting to robbing the innocent.
Surely they can do better things with their time than endangering their lives and the lives of others.
How can we depend on the Mat Rempits to be our future leaders? I certainly would not want an ex-Mat Rempit as my leader. It does not bode well.
