The wesak day was celebrated on a grand scale at the Thean Hou temple. Celebration started on Tuesday, 9th May and ended on the 12th.
The multi-purpose hall was fully decorated to accomodate:-
1. The symbolic showering ceremony of the image of youn Siddharta Gautama with scented water.
2. The offering of flowers and incense to Buddha
3. The wishing trees, whereby devotees and vistors can make a wish on available tags and hand them up on these trees.
In the morning a group of monks lead a prayer session from 10.30 am until about noon. All visitors on entering the hall were offer a stalk of flowers, a joss stick and blessed strings as good luck charms. A small donation was expected from visitors for the temple funds in aid of charity when accepting the flowers, performing the symbolic bathing ceremony or placing a wish.
Birds were also set free by devotees after prayers were said by the monks present.
Other stalls were set up offering Buddhist books and leaflets, CDs, etc. All guests were treated to a free vegetarian lunch of 4 dishes. In the afternoon, a singing contest was held for the aspiring kids to show off their talents.

wow..the statue on the stage was amazing..
i wanted to ask u where the photo was taken....my guess was it was taken in thean hou temple...and i saw it written in ur post later....i'm spot on correct!
